We have set the standard for Plantation Shutters in South Carolina and the entire Low Country.  The Woodshop will continue to provide design, build and modification woodworking services for home building and renovation projects. Specializing in Plantation and Hurricane Shutters, each window treatment will be custom built to meet the customer's needs. We can match you shutters to your trim or house color.  Also available are custom woodworking services for armoire conversion, custom bookcases, refinishing and repairs. For Marine Corps Drill Instructors and State Policemen, we have Cover Blocks commonly referred to as Smokey Bear Hat Presses.

Founded in 1991 in Beaufort, SC, The Woodshop is the premier custom woodshop in the southeast. The Woodshop provides a unique combination of design, build and installation of Plantation and Hurricane Shutters as well as other custom woodworking projects. An expert in finishes, owner Duane Maxey can match new or repaired furniture to existing pieces or create a unique finish for your project.  See the pictures of the Wine Rack under products and note how the rack finish matches the existing table.  Other superb skills include matching broken carvings, unique window designs and antique conversions. No project is too small or too large for The Woodshop. We do not use subcontractors so you are assured of a fast, quality installation.

We service the Beaufort County including Fripp Island, Dataw, Hilton Head and Savannah, GA. Additionally, for our special clients, we have installed shutters in Tennessee, Illinois and Indiana.

Duane Maxey, VP Manufacturing, CEO and Founder: Duane founded the company after working in the cabinet manufacturing business and seeing the need for custom woodworking throughout the low country. Beginning with refinishing antique furniture damaged during hurricane Hugo, he has developed this family owned business into a respected and customer driven company.

Sherrie Maxey Metzger, VP Sales & Marketing: Sherrie, a 20 year customer service manager, ensures each job is scheduled and completed on time.

Scott Maxey, VP Operations: Scott heads up the installation crews. Scott verifies each shutter properly fits and provides a final inspection to ensure each customer is satisfied.

Cathy Maxey, Office Manager.  Cathy manages the office, schedules appointments and manages purchases and accounts payable.
